Synergie Skin — Commercial Fire Door Upgrade
Smart Doors & Windows was engaged to replace multiple non-compliant doors at Synergie Skin’s cosmetics manufacturing facility in Springvale, Melbourne. Synergie Skin is a leading Australian cosmeceutical brand that manufactures over 120 skincare and mineral makeup products entirely on-site — from R&D and batch production to labelling, packaging, and dispatch. As a fully vertically integrated facility handling flammable raw materials, solvents, and chemical processes, fire safety compliance is critical. The existing doors failed to meet the required Fire Resistance Level (FRL) under Australian Standard AS 1905.1, prompting a full replacement with Larnec solid core fire-rated doors.
The Problem
Existing doors did not meet fire resistance requirements under the NCC for a cosmetics manufacturing facility handling volatile compounds and chemical processes.

All doors replaced with Larnec solid core fire-rated door sets engineered to withstand direct flame for up to 120 minutes, in single-leaf and double-leaf configurations.
Product Specification
Larnec Sentry® solid core fire doors — Australian-made, certified to AS 1905.1-2015. Includes fire-rated steel frames, intumescent seals, and automatic door closers.
Compliance & Standards
Installed to NCC and AS 1905.1 requirements. The facility now passes fire door inspections and maintains operational compliance.
Single-Leaf Fire Doors
Several single-leaf solid core fire doors were installed across the Synergie Skin facility, replacing non-compliant doors at key access points including exterior entries, internal fire compartment boundaries, and emergency exit routes. Each door was fitted into a fire-rated steel frame with intumescent seals that expand under heat to block smoke and flame penetration. The dark powder-coated finish provides a clean, professional appearance that blends seamlessly with the industrial environment.
Double-Leaf Fire Doors
For wider openings used for goods movement and emergency egress, double-leaf solid core fire doors were installed. These heavy-duty paired door sets feature coordinated closing sequences to ensure both leaves seal correctly in a fire event. The double-door configurations were critical for the factory’s loading and dispatch areas, where oversized equipment and pallet loads require wider clearance while still maintaining full fire compartmentation.
